I've owned two variations of a Safety 1st bedrail that doesn't seem to exist anymore and recently purchased this Dex. Overall the Dex is made well. It's strong, sturdy and the neutral colors are a big improvement over my older bedrails. We use it on a king sized bed and the anchor strap really does fit a king as advertised. I also really like that it is extra tall (though it doesn't fold all the way over into the lowered position because it hits the floor before it gets flat against he bed frame). Even though our mattress is pretty thick, I found I got a more secure fit by removing the mattress protector rail.

The downside compared to my older rails are that it's the kind of thing you install and leave. My Safety 1st rails installed securely without the anchor strap design and came pre-assembled in one piece that could expand and collapse without sacrificing strength. We've even been able to stick it in a standard sized suitcase and take it on a plane. That won't be happening with the Dex. And good luck releasing both hinges at the same time to lower the rail if you have average to short arms. The assembly wouldn't deter me from buying it again, but it's definitely not the easy breezy install of my other models (definitely not as simple as advertised).

These just are not moist (wet) enough for a good clean up. I would not even consider using these as a wipe for diaper changing clean-up, as they just are not moist/wet enough to do the job. I do not like using more than one or two wipes per diaper change - it CAN be done with a good wipe. I have even put one under water, before using, to get them more damp (which kind of defeats the purpose -- why not just use a wash cloth or a better wipe?) A good wipe has become a necessity when out and about or traveling. These are not that wipe.

They are toting friendly, easy to carry/toss in a baby bag, soft packaging with a pop open, resealable opening. I (and toddler) like the texture and soft feel of the wipes. These are not a flushable wipe - though they are softer/gentler feeling then many wipes - they will clog toilet drains. This is historical knowledge of such things - not an experience with these wipes - I just know. :D

I do expect a better product from Pampers. I could have possibly just received a dried out package... I was debating between this and the original Baby Trend Diaper Champ in Pink and picked this mostly because it was on sale at the time. That being said, I am very pleased with this product and would highly recommend it to other new parents. Yes, it's basically a plastic trash can, but it does a great job of containing baby stink! I like that the diapers, wipes, etc are all contained within the plastic bag and I never have to clean the container itself...unlike the Diaper Champ I used at a friend's, when the diaper smeared all over the plunger part and I had to use a dozen wipes to get it cleaned up. It's at a comfortable height for both myself (5'3") and my husband (5'10") to use. We're not exactly gentle with it sometimes and it's held up very well to 7 1/2 months of daily use. I did throw one of my Munchkin Arm and Hammer Nursery Fresheners, 5 Pack in the bottom of the Genie but that was more because I like the lavender scent than because there was odor to cover up. The refills generally last 3-4 weeks for us and it's easy to tell when you're almost out, since there's a big black line on the plastic bag.

if your baby can take it, I guess it's a good one but for us, we had the worst experience with it.

Here is our story.
My baby had been solely breastfed. After 9 months my wife was running short of her milk. She didn't have enough breastmilk for the baby and he didn't take as much solid food as we would want him to.
We gave him Similac Advance, it was recommended by the hospital. First Similac Advance Liquid, he threw up 9 times within 2 hours after half an hour of feeding. That happened twice. A few days later, we tried Similac Advance power, he threw up again! This time 5 times plus serious diarrhea for 5 days. He has lost 5% of his weight within 2 days. That's really bad.

We were desperate. We took him to the hospital twice that week. The doctor though it was stomach flu.
However, I didn't quit agree with him. What a coincident that 2 different formula milk feeding incidents would throw my baby off balance. I'm a computer engineer and dealing with solving and debugging problems all the time.
I was firm with the doctor that this was not a coincident. I thought it might have something to do with the protein in the formula that my baby couldn't digest. We decided to try Lactose free formula (Nutramigen from Enflora). It smell and taste really awful (my wife tried it and she gagged.
As we thought, my baby rejected to drink it. Then I tried Good Start soy. Same story, smell bad but not as bad as Nutromigen. My baby also rejected to drink it.

Now we were really desperate, not enough milk for him and he doesn't like to eat solid food!! He would throw up + diarrhea if he gave him normal formula milk. Phone call to 4 advise nurses, no luck! I finally search on the internet and found a lot of similar story to what we experienced (including this on Amazon reviews).
I decided to give it a final try, crossing our fingers really tight. Good Start Gentle Plus is our last hope or my baby would not have any more milk to drink. He's losing weight!!

And then miracle happened!!! This milk works wonderfully for him. The only complain I would have is that it doesn't smell as good as the normal cow milk-based formula, however, doesn't smell or taste awful like the other two.

My baby didn't quite used to the tasted in the beginning and didn't really want to drink it at first. So we tried mixed it with breastmilk for a few days.

Now he is a happy baby, gaining weight, doesn't throw up and used to the taste of it.

1. Digital signal = no interference, buzzing, crackling, or other sounds.
2. Good picture.

Cons:
1. Cannot be wall mounted, so unless you use the attached bracket to mount it to the side of the crib (which is only useful if the baby can't sit up) you'd better have a table for it to stand on.
2. The angle created by placing it on a table nearby cuts off half of the baby view.
It won't mount properly to a co-sleeper.
3. The handheld unit has a rechargeable battery only; there's no place to put regular batteries - so you can't travel with it if you are going somewhere without electricity (like camping).
4. This unit has really poor reception between the camera and the handheld part. I live in a small apartment, and if the units can't "see" each other the camera constantly drops the signal - and makes a very annoying "dropped signal" noise to boot! This is my 6th video baby monitor and the only one that I've ever had this problem with.
5. The volume level is really low - I can only hear the baby if the volume is all the way up AND there's no other extraneous apartment noise (i.e. tv, AC, even conversation! etc.)
6. The volume sound is very echo-ey.

Conclusion: While there is no perfect video monitor, this is by far the worst one I've gotten. I could live with all the cons as long as the signal didn't constantly drop out, but what good is a monitor that doesn't monitor the bAby consistently? If this had not been a gift I would definitely return it, and would never buy it again.

This product saved my sanity!!! We have two twin boys that absolutely must have their arms totally locked down to get any chance of sleep. We were using blankets to swaddle at first, but they kept "escaping" and then needed to be re-wrapped and then calmed back down to get them back to sleep, nightmare! We found this product and that first night we used them they only got up when they were hungry! Of course that does not mean everyone who uses these will instantly have that happen because we all know there are a multitude of reasons why babies get up, but this did exactly what we needed to keep their little arms from flailing while they slept and waking them up. The sizing can be tricky here. They have three sizes, preemie, small and large. Our little guys were five pounds when they were born, so the preemie size was a no brainier, but they did not fit properly into the small size till they hit eight or nine pounds. The large size (which we bought ahead of time to have when we need them) says they start at 14 pounds, but now my little guys are around 15 pounds and the large size is still a little loose on the larger boned of my two boys and it way too big for my smaller boned son. I would almost recommend the preemie size for any newborn under 8 pounds.

As far as the functionality of these wraps they are very versatile. You can undo the bottom and change a diaper w/o releasing the arms. You can also open, but not totally remove, the bottom and use the opening in the backside to strap them in their car seats while still swaddled (this worked wonderfully for us when transferring sleeping babies from a car seat to a crib w/o disturbing them too much). The material does stretch with use slightly and tighten up in the wash (similar to how jeans shrink up after washing them then ease back out when you have had them on a few minutes) but if you have the right size this should not be too big of an issue as the Velcro fasteners have a larger area to fasten to so you just pull it as tight or loose as you need. It is also very easy to leave one hand out when your baby wants access to his/her fingers and thumb. Our boys are three months now and have just started sucking their thumbs (self soothing is such a blessing), but if we leave both hands out the one they are not sucking just flails around and keeps them up still. So when they go down their left hand is out (both are little lefties) and their right hand is firmly tucked in the swaddle.

1) long life - we've used this everyday for over 18 months -

2) tray topper - nice idea but didn't fit in the dishwasher - so whats the use? We threw it away

2) fabric padding - my 4 month old was too big to use from the get-go - we've never used
3) straps - I know we are probably bad parents - but these were just in the way - I took them out the first week

I'm using the Snoogle presently and have been for the last month and a half. Currently I am 32 weeks pregnant. I am short - 5' 2''. I find the Snoogle hugs my body perfectly and that it helps me (and my husband) sleep. First, it is very nice to tuck it between my knees and grasp it in my arms. If I roll onto my back, it also gives me lots of support. My husband loves it because it keeps me on one side of the bed and I don't throw my leg overtop of him anymore! The only complaint I have is it can make me quite hot. This may be the nature of the pillow, with it wrapping around my body, or the composition of it (what is in it anyways? does it breathe?). It's possible when I wake up hot and sweaty it's a pregnant thing, but if this happens and I remove the snoogle I usually cool down.
