We've been using these with our baby girl's bumGenius diapers for almost 8 months, since she was newborn. I don't know if I'd keep cloth diapering without them. There have been a couple of times she's messed her diaper when I forgot to put in the liner and that was gross. These make it SO easy. Yes, they're just liners, so sometimes they scrunch and a little gets around them, and when her poo was liquidy in the first few months (she's breastfed) it did leak through to the diaper, but nothing like cloth diapering alone.
